I disagree with Gen 5

BW had good story and added Online Battle, that was what people wanted in Gen 4 (but instead we had Wi-Fi Tower that had real people's team but controlled by AI), had a good and polished story compared to previous games, had Triple and Rotating Battles that were gimmick but Rotating was interesting, this were the first games were the last trainer to defeat wasn't the Champion like all fucking games but the Villain Team's leader with a team that can't be defeated even with your Cover Legendary, had good Music and topped RSE which had the best Music in the franchise, had Hilda, Elesa, and Skyla.

BW2 had PWT, a virtual Girlfriend, Black Tower/White Treehollow that were a copy of Battle Pyramid but harder and without items, PWT that was an alternative to Battle Subway and you could battle Gym Leaders and Champions competitively without caring of Experience Points, had Colress' Music, had Movie Stars that was a minor return of Seals and Ribbons.

The Switch games will probably suck because I don't think they've got any awareness of how little people think of their games now.

Bad USUM sales could give them a wake up call but Pokémon Switch (Plus and Minus) are already in production and they won't delay it.

Better graphics are a problem for games because they cost a lot of money and so attention gets brought away from core game mechanics. That's not to say you wouldn't want good graphics, but you'd want good gameplay as well. GameFreak have told us they care more about money, so they will have this problem.

SM is the Skyward Sword of Pokémon, but Nintendo spent ages on BOTW to make sure they were happy with the product. GameFreak won't do this. You can expect something different hopefully for the DP remakes in Gen8, maybe Gen9.
