how would /vp/ react to held items being made visable? let's say you have your garchomp out and a rotom frost switches in and you can actually see it wears a choice scarf?
I personally would love it, less guesswork involved in competitive play and it would look hillaious in some cases. it wil probably be near impossible to tailor all the available items to all the 3d models
you just made frisk pointless
stupid idea
Horrible idea.
maybe in a custom game mode, otherwise no.

I'd like it but Game Freak would be far too lazy to make all the models.

I guess it would make it less random but it would also remove the niche of more unexpected item picks, and a bit less fun.
I'm guessing you made this thread immediately after being steamrolled by a surprise Weakness Policy?

>less guesswork involved in competitive play
>essentially the one thing that makes the game enjoyable
Pokemon is a turn-based strategy game that prides itself in variety. Part of a competitive match is figuring out your opponent's team and what they're holding. If a scarf rotom-frost gets switched into play against a garchomp, you'd probably assume it's because it's scarfed, because no one's that dumb. If you switch to block a blizzard, and then they switch, then it's pretty obvious it's scarfed. It's called strategy and mind-games. If it isn't actually scarfed, but they switch out anyway and dupe you later on then you got played, and good job to that player. The whole game revolves around adapting to different teams and reading your opponent. That's what makes Pokemon exciting and fun to play.
Unfortunately all of that is invalidated by random misses, random crits, random flinches, random confusion hits, random status inflicts and "paralyzed can't move", but hey, at least you can enjoy the ride before one of these things happen.
What if you could have your Pokemon wear one (strictly cosmetic) accessory and hold an item?

no but I'm blufffing choice scarfs a lot and it's retarded how well it works.
just switch in a mon that cna hit the other super effectively but is slower and the opponent will think it's scarfed and you get a free hit. works better in lower tiers were sets arent as standardized
