Vaporeon isn't always used as much as it's counterparts, but it certainly isn't underrated. It's gen 1 and it's also an eeveelution. Also if you've played battlespot you'll have definitely seen a few of these running stally sets.

was Vaporeon any good in gen 1? I'm about to do a playthrough of Blue, but there's so much choice for water types when you consider Starmie, Gyarados, Lapras, Slowbro etc

With Guts and Tailwind support, Flareon makes for a great suicide bomber. Superpower access is also nice.
