The manga itself? People already knew which starters the Sun and Moon protagonists were going to get, it has been consistent for 20 years. It's also gender dependant, and the girls always get the starter that's weak to the boy's.

I can see that it goes-> Grass>Fire>Water for the male protagonist of each manga, but that pattern is broken with Sun having Litten since Lack-Two has Oshawott, so I don't know what kind of rotation you mean?

The male protagonists' starters follow a clear pattern, Grass > Fire > Water

Red has Venusaur (Grass)
Gold has Typhlosion (Fire)
Ruby has Swampert (Water)
Diamond has Torterra (Grass)
Black has Emboar (Fire)
Lacktwo has Samurott (Water)
X has Chesnaught (Grass)
Sun has Incineroar (Fire)

Next is Water. Gen VIII male protagonist will get the Gen VIII Water starter, or there will be a new guy for USUM who will have Primarina, and Gen VIII guy will get the Grass starter.

The female protagonist has whichever starter is weak to the male protagonist's starter, so they technically go in a Water > Grass > Fire pattern.

Blue has Blastoise (Water)
Kris has Meganium (Grass)
Sapphire has Blaziken (Fire)
Platinum has Empoleon (Water)
White has Serperior (Grass)
Whitwo would have Emboar (Fire) but Black has it, so she's skipped over
