Almost 5 years ago, a bunch of anons on /vp/ set out to create something special.
What started out as an effort to create a brand new Pokédex soon evolved into a game dev project the likes of which had never been seen before.
Scores of anonymous posters, all working together on equal footing to cobble together an homage to the games that had shaped their lives so heavily.
As the months turned into years, new faces arrived and old faces faded away.
A bunch of amateurs, most of which with absolutely no experience, slowly started to assemble a monument to their love for a game about collecting monsters.

We have finally reached a great milestone: the completion of our Demo 2.0. The countless combined efforts of everyone, from simple survey voting anons to masterful artists, has let us accomplish this release.

Came back to it after a couple days, beat Stella.
Leech Seed Flowger absolutely ruined her team. The only half decent attack I had against Steel was Psybex Double Kick, but I didn't even have to use it because I was able to get a bunch of lucky sleeps with Flowger's Sing and Florabri's Grass Whistle.

My first attempt I got swept by Anvelid, after catching Flowger I didn't even use half my mons.

Anon from earlier with the 3rd gym thing, and I've finished the demo. As I said, I'm really looking forward to the next update! Here's my team for you guys to rate: I like it a lot, but it made the earlygame hell, especially Stella. My favorite team member is definitely Maskoon (Though on the obtainable 'mons post I was extremely disappointed to learn that Mortasque is Bug/Flying; I really dislike having multiple 'mons of the same type so I was hoping for Bug/Ghost), but my favorite that I've seen is probably Glocto. Big fan of Cuppy and Fettlekish too. I'm really impressed and I'm excited for updates and discussion in the future. I'm glad to be involved with both /vp/ fangames at last!

They don't need to call you to be ready. It's actually programmed so most don't call you so you don't get overwhelmed with them. All you need is the little icon in the phone app. I don't remember the exact values we use for times between rematches, essentials defaults are randomly between 8 and 16 minutes. I can tell you that it takes longer to battle all the rematches in the game than it does for your first rematch to renew. So you can basically infinitely cycle through them. Rematches are initiated after Stella and then again after Cameron. There may be one more round but my memory is hazy. Until you reach the next upgrade point you can infinitely rematch a trainer and they will have the same team.

Unfortunately Foliat was my starter & no way that I was swapping that out. Probably would have ended up using Alpint, Peppit or Growmeo/Tuliep over it anyway as I love those guys (didn't really care for Alpint until I saw its sprite & suddenly loved the guy - this actually happened with quite a few sagemons)

Just beat the demo and loved every single moment of it. Can I just say, whoever is doiung the B/W2 soundfont compositions? KEEP HIM. His or her work is absolutely legendary.

This battle theme literally rocketed to the top of my favorite Evil team themes, even though its unofficial, Like holy fuck this music is good. Keep doing this and you've got my vote hands down.

Thats a really great and tempting offer, but ike I've said my schedule is booked these days with other company projects. If I could take some time off i'd love to pop in though. But I feel I've contributed enough over the years as is, most of my pitches back in the hay days actually stuck with the voting process and became the basis for most of sage, The stone-bronze-industrial; age pokemon became the basis for the golems, Jelly-lady/moon Jelly waifu eventually became yaccuma, The concept for a cirque du soleil gym leader became Shaddini, Heck the only thing that stayed true throughout was my darling chillnobyl. But all the aimprovements really made me happy to see it all get submited. I've played the whole demo from start to finish, I'm not worried about the writing at all because from what I can see you guys definitely have a handle on it. I wish you best of luck and can't wait to see the final product!

Yes, pokemon re-distros are a bit of an ordeal, but it can happen based on feedback/suggestion/even just devs changing minds. It's happened before: Route 5 originally didn't have coltergeists and were voted against, but a few days later even after it was locked minds were changed and it got re-addmitted., Item stuff especially nobody really cares much about so as long as 1 person on the dev team agrees with you everybody else will just go "yeah sure fine" to it.

That being said, I can't think of another new mon to put there that would fit: what do you have in mind?

Slatic is a chameleon. There are lots of insects in the swamp. It being a warmer atmosphere, makes sense you could find a reptile here.

This is pre-gym 4. Thoraxe is not too early here. Plus it's a decent bug option for the dark gym leader that comes next.

Drosire is based on a sundew which grow in poor nutrient soil, like a swamp. They're insectivores in real life. Think back to Carnivine.

I was arguing it was the solution that would dumb it down the least while still actually getting more people to try it.The actual puzzle is just as hard, people just know what their reward is and won't give up as easily.

Personally, if it were me, I would have made all the rods main plot rewards so every player is garunteed to get them, since it's a "core" key item. But I'm trying to be respectful of the fact the devs want it to be a side-reward and want it to take some effort.

Having NPC's point out that there are fishermen with rods in there is the best way to make more people do it, while keeping the skill needed as high as you can.

I don't see how it's an issue. The old rod gives you a single mon that you can get later, that's all, there are plenty of way easier to miss Pokemon and items.
The point is to make people enjoy the game, not to make sure they get everything. When I found it when I first played the (old) demo, it was very rewarding and fun.
