No it didn't. A glitched encounter is likely just a small hiccup in the RAM. Catching a glitched Pokémon actually causes long-term corruption because now every time you open your menu, the PC, go to a Pokémon Center, or enter a battle the game is having to load a bunch of values it doesn't understand.

It's like if you break your foot, you don't just cut it off because "Oh well it's fucked anyway", you go get a cast. It's only fucked if you DON'T get a cast and keep stepping in it over and over again until it actually does fucking fall off.

Don't you know about Missingno.? Encountering it isn't a big deal, catching it fucks everything up.
