They were gonna have endou marry Aki as his grandson in the movie confirmed it would happen, having the same hair as her etc. But they decided to have him marry Natsumi so the fans would be surprised.

Rumor has it. When Go fixed the timelines etc in Chrono Stone, he was married to Aki.

Hints to this are in Go Galaxy when Aki and Endou take the Go team camping together and neither mention Natsumi and she doesn't even show up.

Endou and Aki was meant to be.

1. Serena was a plot device for XY. A way of going back into Satoshi's past and exploring further a.k.a meeting a girl from his childhood once again on his journey. Serena was meant just for that. But everyone including Rica loved the character and her interactions and story with Satoshi that she became popular in japan and is mentioned a lot even today with rumors they will bring her back in a cameo episode arc and possibly the next generation anime. The kiss was a promise between the staff that because of how popular she was in japan, she would be Satoshi's first and final true love. Though the director stated "Satoshi is too young and doesn't understand love yet, so he isn't ready to respond to her feelings" this is why they had him look all shocked and dazed after the kiss.

2. The kiss was meant to be shown and they even drew an animatic which they showed around the studio to staff of how it would look. The director deemed it too "Daring" for a children's anime and decided to pan the camera down and have it appear that she did. When he found many fans believed it was on the cheek, he corrected them in an interview stating "It was a kiss on the lips but we couldn't show it".

3. Staff and Voice Actors can't reveal much at events and cons. Rica was anaswering questions at movie 20 events specifically about that movie's version of Satoshi. Had you or any other fans asked her about Serena, you may have gotten an answer you as haters; would not be happy with.

Pokemon anime forchildren. They don't make it for you and don't have to do anything you say. If you hate cast or story devices, that is your own fault, please be respectful of cast and staff who work to bring this series to you. There are no relationships in Sun And Moon. We are going through a normal ten year old having adventures fun times at school, meeting new friends enoying life. Though things will take a more mature turn in the coming months with "That" person and "That" Pokemon appearing.

There is barely any build up at all, there could be between 5 to 15 episodes in between something that matters and then in maybe a span of 2 to 3 episodes, there is a gym battle or an episode that builds to a gym battle. But that's pretty much it. Then there is the league, which is an over done tournament arc(s) that went out of fashion quite a few years ago which has and always will result in nothing and even Ash just abandoning his pokemon to start over.
