In the trailer he rotates the Z crystal. In SM that doesn't happen. Might be a new feature, and the only new feature related to Z moves that I can think of is Lillie's "z powered form". People think it's just a lazy translation since such a thing doesn't exist and in the Japanese version she says a pun based on her name but it could be clever foreshadowing.

there isnt a 'new z ring' the crystals are different, but there were 4 different rings in SM... 1 for each island, depending on which Tapu gives you one.
