Pretending thus like 20 years pf history and continuity was never there being abandoned. And of course covering all movie flaws with flashy animation and "cool battles". Along with playing on wear out and cliché emotional scenes to forcefully extort from audience feelings through dishonest and with no lasting substance plots. Regarding not original Ash bit his clone and partner clone Pikachu bond where they couldn't even bothered to stay faithful to this characters characterization.

And don't even get me started on TR who got basically joke treatment with their forced and ultimately irrelevant role to play in this movie(like they're not iconic to pokemon show). Being insulting to their importance and essence they used to have when complementing heroes personalities, actions and journey through their own agenda. Unique backgrounds, endearing personalities and unity they displayed through last two decades and onwards.

Mr. Shudo is rolling in his grave not having peace, Not with his colleagues disrespecting whole roots and foundations on which pokemon anime was created and developed. Going against everything pokemon anime used to be and stood for.

At this point i feel writers and directors completely lost their compass being out of touch with reality and what are fans wishes and interests.

Sure supporters will immediately point out to fact how "this movie is super popular in Japan" due to being currently first in box office revenues it brings.

But I have to point out how mas response to movie does not mean that everyone liked it. In fact its also possible that many who watched movie were not satisfied with it at all(although that doesn't matter since how much money it brings is what interests pokemon staff the most).

However im interested to see how in USA, Europe and rest of world this movie is gonna be received. Because it will determinate and reveal to writers, directors and producers how much things like continuity, older main characters, compact story and credible writing is valued and appreciated in general.

Although with way how things got started based on response in Japan may encourage staff to forever abandon continuity and everyone from before getting impression how "those things are not asked or wanted".
Pokémon fandom can be at times its worst enemy ,its true with way things have been panning out for years.

Actually, yeah, I did go through the trouble of reading all that. Apparently, some people are afraid of long-winded posts.

Honestly, we're still whining about this? Game Freak goes for whatever grabs the most money. Same with the animation studios behind the series and the movies. They don't fucking care about you at all, they just care about bringing in even more kids to the playground. The only reason why Gen 1 is pandered back and forth is because they know shit worked before with you all and they're simply re-washing and presenting the same thing to the newest generations.

Shoddy tropes, the same games being sold several times over, new and old characters that have grown into more stereotypical anime characters. You're sad Misty and Brock didn't make it over? Over what, a bland lifeless movie that's got even more washed up tropes we all know and oh so love from previous movies? Yeah, I sure love having Ash die on us for the fourth time except not really, just reminding us of the fact that they'll keep re-using him for all eternity just because he happens to be the big main protagonist of the entire anime/movie franchise and have him rebooted every single time. To top it off, they're making him dumber each season with short term memory loss. I literally laugh at shippers of any kind that couple any girl partner that has partnered with him in each generation because in the end, it doesn't even matter. All the girls you've seen are literal fluff as well as everyone else that tags along with Ash. Fluff to give Ash a excuse as to not walk on his own, to further make writers lose their time writing development for characters that will be utterly meaningless by the next season while Ash remains a undeveloped tame character as a whole.

Literally, the only thing the anime and the movies are good for is for actual Pokemon interaction/battles. And even that's staggering far behind. SM had a great start. Then you realize it's just like any other season, stock animations left and right, slapped in just for any occasion. At least the original series had some actual original animation, but as the series progressed, they started to rely on stock and CGI animation more and more.
