That's because cats are infinitely less diverse than dogs. Alolan Persian is one of the first genuine attempts at bringing a specific breed into Pokemon

Persian is fine. It's funny the way it is. I hated it a first, though using it in my team made me change the thinking.

I used to like both Decidueye and Incineroar. But after browing /vp/ with all the starter war, all this gen's starters are garbage. They have clear personality just with their appearance, so thinking them in other ways is just gross, unless you have such fetish. They don't look comfy anymore.

And it's a fucking shitty attempt. It still doesn't look anything like an actual Persian cat, it looks like Persian with a fat face and grey fur.
They had the perfect oppurtunity to actually fix the original Persian design, and they didn't do it.

I actually never referenced persian as something they didn't try with. That's the only thing they did try with. I have no qualms with any catmon that they actually tried with. Even alolan persian looks like an existing cat breed, ignoring the fact it's not a persian cat.. But other catmons hardly represent a proper breed unless it's a wild cat like lions or leopards

Also not hating on the catmons we do have (some of them anyway), just wish gf would actually try to represent breeds
