Mixed attacking is obsolete. A mon optimized in Attack or Special

Well, there are still some pokémon used as mixed attackers and one of the most used is Protean Greninja. But I agree that it's harder now for mixed attackers than it was before.

That's bullshit, especially with mixed Knock Off users. Can't tell you how many KOs I get with Tornadus-T after knocking off a Tangrowth or Magearna's Assault Vest followed by Heat Wave, Hurricane, or Inferno Overdrive.

Mixed attackers always bugged me too. I can throw Adamant or Modest of a physical or special attacker and not feel like I'm losing anything attack wise.

Most of the offensive Pokemon that get banned are because they're absurd mixed attackers.
MLuke, Aerislash, Pheromosa, Genesect, Landorus, and Marshadow being prime examples.

Mixed attackers are so superior to attackers forced onto one side of the spectrum that whenever they're very good they entirely warp the metagame around them. Once all the extremely strong mixed attackers are banned, you don't have as many left in the OU tier. There's still a few like Greninja and some Tapu Koko and Celesteela sets, but mostly the strongest mixed attackers just straight get banned.
