As one of the guys that does Pokespe scanlations, I'd say that for the Pokespe manga, Kusaka is just bad at storyboarding.

He always takes forever to get anything done, doing pointless buildup when he knows he's limited by a 24 page monthly thing.

These 9 chapters of FoC, despite being longer in length for some chapters, really just shows how important storyboarding is.

Spe has a good artist, but it's nothing without anything good to create. And stuff like MHA/BNHA is weekly and still pumps up out better stuff than Spe. Spe is pretty awful as a shonen series, and it's no wonder people are so bored with it after so many years because nothing really happens.

The last time he tried to make it action packed was FRLG and you all know how fans reacted to that, most didn't like it.

And to go further on the storyboarding, FoC knows how to use flashbacks well and how to integrate it in during the current time, it's genius.

I've been doing Spe for a year now, seeing the end of ORAS, BW2's rebirth, the last two volumes of XY, and SM, and I've been more impressed by a doujin for just being more competent.

I'm not trying to knock him down, I own all of the manga, their autographs (twice), and the rare 10th anniversary artboard, and all of the clearfiles.

I'm just saying that it's gotten stale as of late. I still support the manga, but even I can't be ignorant and say it's the best thing ever when they shot themselves in the foot a few times by badly setting things up.

Platinum, HGSS, and ORAS are all deemed pretty awful arcs because they set up grand stakes, and then don't deliver at all.

All of RGB, Y, and GSC were essentially weekly.
There were all published in monthly magazines, but for like three to four monthly magazines. So that meant a total of about three to four chapters per month. So basically it was a weekly manga.

Check out the older arcs and see that the page count is low like a weekly manga, 12-15 pages. Yet they still produced some really wonderful art.

The thing with Karen's argument is that it doesn't work in the games because of how the game works. You can't argue numbers.

On a setting such as this Karen's argument actually has validity because it's the "real world" and not a videogame where hardcoded numbers rule everything.

Still, Green's partly right there. At least the "you're just drunk on your own meaningless sob story" part. Karen's not the only one who has gone through difficulties or has a sob story, everyone does, but she acts like if she's supposed to win just because of that or that hers has the most meaning of them all.
