Smogon's always made some questionable choices.
I understand that banning evasion based stuff is primarily done to cut down on RNG/Luck based gameplay, but I've also seen people say allowing evasion would be "too centralizing" because people would have to start carrying something with Aura Sphere/Swift/Magical Leaf/Shockwave/Shadow Punch on their teams to deal with it. But if they really cared about gameplay centralizing at all, they'd ban hazards right? Since most teams have to carry a spinner/defogger to deal with those already.

Pheromosa did not just beat Landorus, it outsped and beat a shitton of things, including Scarfers and had too many sets to take care of safely.
Genesect did not just beat Landorus, it was pretty much the same as Pheromosa but bulkier and with equally punishing set up options.

Mega Metagross did not just beat Landorus, in fact Bulky Landorus would sometimes be used to put a lot of damage on it if it didn't switch into an Ice Punch, it had absolutely no counters if the terrains were in his favor.

Zygarde-C was fucktarded in every possible way, a single Coil let it survive Weavile's Icicle Crash and then kill it back, it was a nightmare to take down if he boosted once.

Landorus did not just beat Landorus, he had the equivalent of 225 base Spatk and perfect coverage and boosting options as well as a great speed tier.

Aegislash did not beat Landorus at all, far from that in fact, it just checked the fuck out of 80% of the metagame.
