Apparently the legend has it that the crown has the power to make Pokémon stronger, and Satoshi and his friends are impatient to receive this blessing as well. But then the "Bone Keeper Pokémon" Garagara shows up and steals the crown.

SM35 - A Curry-zy Beautiful Battle! The Dance of Rarantes!! (July 27th)
>As part of an extracurricular lesson, Satoshi and the others are made to gather the ingredients for Alola Curry, a traditional Akalan dish. They immediately join up with Mao and start searching for the ingredients, but the task turns out to be less than easy when they encounter an herds of Digda and Karikiri during their search.

SM36 - Lychee's Grand Trial! The Hardest Pokémon Match Ever!! (August 3rd)
>Satoshi has finally become able to challenge the Grand Trial of Lychee, Island Queen of Akala Island. For the record, XY /padt/ threads were tame as fuck and even comfy too with lots of discussion and endurable shitposts, majority being amour. That all descended because of the league finales, which attracted so many crossboarders who don't even watch the anime and yapped until all the nice folks left the threads. Also the SM transition had an effect on it too.

During the last few months of 2015 and he first months of 2016, Stale in particular went fucking nuts, and these threads were mostly rendered unusable for days...but even that started to die down once the league approached. Of course, the first SM leaks were used to shitpost against SatoSere shippers (first with Chicken-chan, then Mallow, and then Lillie - in the exact order they were revealed), but the league hype largely drowned most shitposting down.
And then BURASTO BAAN happened, and /padt/ died. Yes, we're posting in old /padt/'s corpse, because these threads never recovered from that.

I still can't believe Taiiku Okazaki of all people is still more popular than a singer who sang for Shakugan no Shana, and Pose still managed to sell better than some of her later singles. Why is this world so unfair?

Personally I feel even if you just compare XY's more light hearted filler to a typical SM episode there's a pretty clear difference in tone and presentation. Personally I never cared much for XY's filler and I was always looking forward to Ash's next battle or Flare arc teases in that show.

Basically I like it when a show plays to its strengths I guess. SM goes for the slapstick comedy and beachside vacation feel so I enjoy the fillers here a bit more.

Yep. These threads started with XY because people liked what XY was at the start. And what XY was at the start is a very solid variant of what people have, for the most part, always wanted and expected from the Pokemon anime: Comfy day to day episodes about likeable characters and their Pokemon traveling through a region, interacting with each other and their surroundings, without much more overall plot than the usual gym quest.

Shitposters can keep spamming about how SM is great because it's comfy and XY was edgy shonen all they want, it'll never have anything to do with the reason people initially started watching XY and these threads became a thing.
