Hypothetically speaking, what Pokemon would be good for someone with Depression, and what Pokemon would be bad?
Chansey, because it's eggs are supposed to give those joy. And the worse would be litwick since it steals energy.
Anything with Aromatherapy would be nice. Also imo any mon that's easy enough to care for, just like an irl pet, woild be helpful. It would be even moreso in the Pokémon world because of their innate attachment and empathizing with humans.

Would the Pokemon feel like shit because you feel like shit, because that might not help things.

The baby forms on both the Happiny and Togekiss lines are small, easy to care for, and have the same effect as the adult forms.
> Other good mons:
Hypno: eats bad dreams. No more terrible dreams! They can get sneaky if they aren't given what they want, though. Which is mostly bad dreams to eat.
Gengar: can be trained to eat dreams, too. Also likes pranks, which can be good if you have a sense of humor. That said, they can get unruly if not "having fun".
Absol: This pokemon naturally senses when disaster looms and tries to protect others. This has caused people to distrust them and think they are causing disasters. If you're feeling misunderstood and afraid, this Pokemon will totally get you and bro up. They are very protective and loving.
Liligant & Comfee: these friendly pokemon have soothing effects on those around them. They are also very friendly and like seeing people smile.
> Bad Mons:
Banette: the vengeance pokemon. Unless all it's vengeance against it's creator has been settled, it is going to use you. It's unevolved forms stir up sorrow and anger and feed off of it.
Cofagrigius: They used to be humans. They literally have depression until they evolve. Then they have rage AND depression!
Also avoid anything remarkably difficult to train. For example, Tyrantrum, which tends to have a "better than you" attitude on top of liking to smash things when offended.

Good:
Togepi line based on pokedex entries.
Audino in a medical sense, since it can gauge how one is feeling.
Skitty because of its cuteness and how popular its cuteness makes it in-universe, likely both cheering up the owner and drawing other people to them like how people meet walking dogs.
Bad: Cubone. Attitudes are contagious, and you'll be stressed to find a pokemon more depressed than this one.
Yamask, this is what you will become one day, and it sometimes cries while looking at its mask.
Banette. Literally a doll animated by hatred. Will likely play devil's advocate and drive you to self destructive things akin to a voodoo doll sticking needles into itself.
Alolan Meowth line. Superiority complex means they'll probably treat you like crap and think you're their slave. Likely normal Meowth line, too, though definitely to a lesser degree.
Gloom is bad, I mean, look at the name. The bad smell will likely drive the person with depression insane and its constant sad expression probably won't help.
Generally speaking, the higher their base friendship is, the better they are.
Notably, Rockruff could go either way because of the period of time where it gets rebellious. Lycanroc generally would be good, though, especially midday.
Brionne might be good for someone who's depressed. Look at its dex entries.
>It cares deeply for its companions. When its Trainer is feeling down, it performs a cheery dance to try and help.
Of course, there's no guarantee it'll succeed, but at least it tries.
