Tamashi came up with a very good reasoning on why Kris didn't come back, and it has all to do with Kris being a period specific character, with an also very game dependant art scheme. Lucas is pretty timeless design wise.

That's a really dumb reason imo. It wouldn't have been that hard to update her design. They could've just put her in lyra's clothes too since she looks better in them than lyra does.

I agree with Krisfag on this one. They update character designs in every remake, but the only time they opted to just make a new MC when remaking was HGSS. No real reason not to just put Kris in Lyra's outfit.
