Now buckle up because this might be very autistic but suppose there was an ability or move (or both) called Retrograde, and what it does is simple, it causes all moves and types to behave as they did when they were first introduced where applicable. Now the question I have is how useful (or useless) would such a thing be?

If there is anything you want me to clarify please feel free to let me know.

How would it work with conflicting things?

Dragons had no fairy weakness in gen 1, but fairies are SE on dragons when they were introduced. No matter which one you choose, it'll be either unfair for dragons or for fairies.

Either way, I'd sure love to blast 120 BP 90 acc Blizzards while only ice and water types could resist it.

Fairy would still be SE to Dragon, let me give you and idea of how it would work with say, Psychic type. Now it would still be weak to Dark and bug, but would be immune to Ghost as it was back in Genwun, make sense?

What it should do is whatever came first. In this case, Dragon had no fairy weakness in genwun, so no fairy weakness.

I think this is a neat idea in a void, but is not doable in a real game.
Excluding all the mechanical details we are talking about forcing players to study the gameplay of games made before they where ever born (Consider that I think pokémon will have at least 10 more years of life, but could go on for a century for all we can assume) that had multiple changes in different games.
What's the payoff? I think it's way more work for what's worth.
