Landorus-t is the healthiest pokemon in OU, Garchomp is still the king of minmaxed pseudos, Zygarde is a god tier setup sweeper that cucks flying types, Hippowdon has reliable recovery, sand stream for chip damage and utility, and far better defenses than donphan, and Excadrill is a much more useful ground type spinner that can go scarfed or be put in a sand team.

Lets compare it to other ground types that get more usage then.

>Lando-t
Lando walls more things, kills more things, is faster than more things and can set up. Can deal with all its counters with z moves nowadays too. And- has momentum which is just great.
>Garchomp
Can do whatever you need it to. Scarf? Yes. Band? One of the best. Defensive? You got it. Z-sweeper? Complimentary. Any combination of those? Yeah.
>Excadrill
All around more threatening, higher attack trumping better coverage when all you really need is rock coverage. Better typing. Key abilities in mold breaker and sand rush give it varied roles that donphan just cannot fill, from rock setter that doesn't care about magic bounce to a mean sweeper. Less bulky sure, but it has better HP.
>Mamoswine
Actually has STAB on ice so it actually kills things rather than tickles them with ice shard. Same boat as excadrill as far as bulk goes, higher HP is just better.
>Hippowdon
Has bulk for years and actual recovery. So much better than it, it's not funny.
>Zygarde
There's about 3 things in OU that enjoy switching in on this, where nearly all of OU can switch in on donphan. Also applies to zydog.

It's like lando-t for UU, versatile and fairly fast. Which donphan isn't.

So Donphan cant exist? Guys fucking chill, and most Landos arent even defensive so shit like that could knock them down. It was like that early XY heck even into ORAS with my Donphan atleast taking hits from shit like MEGA Garchomp and killing it in two moves or so. And for all we know they might finally ban Lando T to Ubers and so what then? People wonder why Smogon gets ragged on, its because its become a joke of a community obssessed with finding negatives in Pokemon only to wholly praise others for having similiar if not greater negatives.

Because it's shit? Excadrill is the better spinner and there are at least half a dozen Defoggers in OU and UU. There's no point in giving it Ice Shard or anything like that when Mamoswine exists, and as a defensive ground type it is utterly garbage compared to Hippowdon and Landorus

Completely outclassed by Gligar in any meta Gligar is in.
Outside of those metas it still has to compete with stuff like Blastoise, which has Scald, or Aerodactyl (non mega) which like Gligar has recovery and Stealth Rock, but also higher Speed.
