ORAS was a remake of a 15 year old region and removed postgame content

SM had another low Pokemon count and a bunch of empty lots that exist for nothing other than presumably turning into something in USM

All the 3DS so far games barely had enough content to last through a 8-10 month long hype cycle

Compare that to Gen 5 where we only saw a fraction of the regional dex and the first third or so of the region.

To be fair, that largely describes the main story of every game too.

But yeah, if Delta Episode had actually been good maybe I'd like ORAS more. The Emma quest from XY was a lot better IMO. The battles there were braindead too, but at least I enjoyed the story/characters from that one.
