With the vending cards shown, how likely is there some hidden gems waiting? Should I throw a $50 off out to see what happens?

Depending on how many cards the binder has it definitely worth it. A trainer box that has 6 boosters is $45 and chances of getting anything worthwhile are low

I'm excited. This fills some holes in my collection
Probably very little. Vending cards, like the gym and neo sets the rest of the binder is filled with, were pretty commonly sold at US card shops back during Pokemon's hey-day. They're mostly junk cards, but some of the vending ones do go for enough that you could get your money worth. (that Mew is worth around 10-12)
