Steel is perfectly fine. Its still one of the best types in the metagame, if not the best type.

There are buildings with metal parts drsigned to withstand earthquakes, so it should resist ground.

There are metals and alloys that are nearly impervious to being smashed or torn, so it should resist fighting.

Metallic surfaces are pure and reflecting, they cannot be stained by the darkness of evil so it should resist dark.

Iron in some lores can defend from supernatural spirits (ghost and fairies), so it should resist ghost.

There are alloys that don't rust, so it should resist water.

There are alloys that let electric currents pass without suffering any damage or alteration, so it should resist electric.

No normal person can scratch metal, neither can ice, plants or insects, so it should be immune to normal, ice, bug and grass.

Only then will steel stop being a shit type.
