Crabominable is awful. Mediocre stats aside from its Attack, horrible defensive typing, no priority, situational Abilities aside from Iron Fist (which doesn't even provide an especially large boost), and a fairly bland movepool (it's basically your average Fighting-type but with Crabhammer and some Ice moves). It doesn't even get Hammer Arm, so it's stuck with Fighting STAB that either works against it in the long run (Close Combat and Superpower) or is unreliable (Dynamic Punch and Reversal).

It doesn't look very nice either.

That's not the worst part. The worst part is that its stats are awful and barely an improvement, and gaining Ice-Type only makes it weaker.
Unova was worse for what you're complaining about, because half of the dex doesn't evolve until level 50, which is about the time you reach Victory Road. Which is a shame because a lot of the fully-evolved pokemon are really cool, but they're awful in battle until evolved, especially when your Meinfoo has to fight a Meinshao at level 30. Total bullshit.

Gen four WAS the peak. Gen 3 was trash coming out of gen two because you couldn't even beat the fucking game(dex filling) as backward compatibility was removed. Imagine pokebank situation but you'd have to but two copies of it for 50ish$ at the store in order to get older mons.
Gen five made improvments in the bw2 version but BW1 was so bad compared to platinium and the HGSS remakes. Everything after that is basically garbage even though they finally fixed the breeding mechanics(for the most part) that gen 3 absolutely ruined.

Linear doesn't mean straight line. Kanto is linear too, there's no reason to go any way other than forward and there's often arbitrary things in the way that simply vanish once you've done the "right" thing. I would agree the story of S/M is almost as linear, but considering the post game is literally "Fly between islands and explore based on clues" it's infinitely less linear than gen 1. Again, linear doesn't mean "straight line"

The game. If the intent was to make you trade to evolve them there is already a feature where trading evolves your Pokémon. I didn't say it wasn't socializing, I said trade evolution are intended to promote socialization. You taking shortcuts and having other people level your Pokémon for you isn't promoted or intended.

Hell in Gen V Hydreigon was like 14 levels after the freaking post game, not that that stopped the final boss from having one.

Some mons, GF doesn't want you to have until later. It doesn't necessarily correlate with their strength either. It's just the natural game progression. Catching them all does not happen in a day.

RBY doesn't really have a story in the way RSE and later games do. You find events like the Game Corner basement, but you're not directed to them, you find them by looking for new places to go or get hints from NPCs. There are necessary order to some of those - you can't complete Pokemon Tower before Rocket Hideout, for instance - but not on all of them, and you're far more free to explore new Routes and towns without an order or plot-advancement broken bridges imposed on them thanks to all of the loops and underground tunnels connecting everything in multiple orders. Until you step into those event areas, for the second half to two-thirds of the game you're mostly left to your own devices to work out where to explore and how to get to new places - something that definitely never happens in Alola.

This is objectively true.Gen 4 is when game quality and popularity were not necessarily highest, but highest at the same time. Ask any normie that's played pokemon what gen they started on and if the answer isn't 1, it's probably 4. Not to mention HGSS and Platinum are two of the best pokemon games to date.
