that don't fix movesets anon
>>
>>32824400

Yeah but the game would be too hard for them as the game was designed to be played with it on.
>>
>>32824400
Turning off the exp share doesn't make the game easier. It just makes have to grind more.
>>
>>32824400
I did so for SM and it turned out to be the most challenging game in the series for me and it was a very fun time.
Hapu was a beast holy shit.

I think XY would be too easy either way due to the garbage movesets important trainers have.
Specially since ORAS was still kinda easy without it.

I'm going to tell you a secret, OP.
It's goddamn Pokémon, who the FUCK cares about difficulty. Muh challenge is just the weakest excuse people here can use to shit on any of the games. Go play one of the many shitty """difficulty""" hacks that throw bloated teams with levels 10 above yours at all times if you care so much.

This pissed me off a lot. They come and introduce megas as this new big feature and nobody fucking uses them besides Lysandre, your rival, korrina, and the champion. They seriously couldn't have any gym leaders use them or have stronger trainers on routes use them like z-moves in SM?
>>
>>32824475
All the hacks I've seen are all stupids shit with le 6 pokemon gym leader at the start of the game.

What I want to see is a hack who really fix the game.
Probably will have to do it myself.
>>

What would you implement?

Sure and battle mansion is unfair becuase of RNG yeah, it's not like you're actually bad at the game
>>
The problem with Pokemon's difficult is that it's not JUST the experience leveling that everyone thinks it is

It's also about the opponents movesets and AI. Most trainers just have the level up learnset with no TMs/HMs. Even with decent moves, the AI just picks random suboptimal moves (e.g. using a stat lowering move instead of going for the kill).

Not to mention every trainer besides important ones like the E4 have absolute 0 IVs so being underleveled doesn't really matter.

There's a reason why the GameCube games were well-liked, because enemy trainers had actual AI and strategy (e.g. protect + earthquake, endure + salac berry) with bosses having a battle gimmick beyond just typing. For example, Miror B. had multiple ludicolos but they were either a rainsweeper or a recovery tank. Another boss spammed attraction + confuse ray. These strategies worked and forced you to build certain Pokemon and movesets to counter them unless you wanted to overlevel.

In recent games there's no need to counter a strategy because

1. The enemy trainers NEVER have a decent strategic gimmick
2. You can overlevel so easily and have easy access to much better moves through TMs, DexNav, hoards, etc that there's no point.

Sure you can add restrictions on yourself to up the level of difficulty such as the nuzlocke challenge, but in the end it's all arbitrary and you might as well run the game with a level 100 pichu

At least that was a sign they learned.
>>
>>32824958
They already somewhat did with ORAS. Every newly introduced Mega that was in the Hoenn Dex is used by someone in-game.
>>
>>32824656
I've been a long-time proponent of ditching the type specialist gyms, or at least making them more "gimmicky" as suits the typing. If it's a fire gym then all you need is one decent water type and you're fine, but if that fire type gym used Sunny Day and maybe featured something with Solar Power then it could be a bit more challenging to work with, and even teach new players about how some of these strategies that they wouldn't otherwise be aware of work.

You could get a *lot* more challenging with things like you mentioned, where a gym leader could focus on pokemon with high special defense and then inflict burn status to reduce physical damage, or specialize in poison/confuse with a lot of draining moves so you just have to sit there using antidotes while your pokemon smacks itself in the face and he sucks the life out of you. Show people how nasty certain combos can be, and don't focus on one specific type. Let them do this kind of thing with 3-6 different typings so you *really* have to dive in and build a solid team to take them on. It'd be a hell of a lot more challenging and fun.
>>
It's not just the level curve with the exp share that makes the game easy. It's also the braindead AI with weak pokemon and neutered move sets. It also doesn't help that trainers have like 3 Pokémon max and gym leaders/elite 4 had only 3 or 4 pokemon

Same here, but SM, at some points, can be "challenging" with the exp share turned on unlike Xy/Oras.

you can say this about literally any game.

>if mario is too easy for you can't you just not use powerups?
>if zelda/metroid is too easy for you can't you just not use health upgrades?
>if red/blue is too easy for you can't you just not use the pokemon center?

I'd rather the game devs actually BALANCE the games themselves so I can have fun playing the game using all the tools it gives me instead of having to artificially balance it myself by repeatedly shooting myself in the foot.
