Currently playing Platinum. Funny thing is Ive already played all Gen 4 games when I was id, but lost all of the cartridges when I got older.

Platinum is the best Sinnoh game with a significant lead.
But I still find Sinnoh as a region to be the weakest in basic structure.
I know quite a few will argue it, but it's never had a soft spot for it despite that the timing was right for Sinnoh to be the big childhood game.

Platium to start. Every gen after 4 is basically an attempt to be building or streamlining the standards/game mechanics this gen set.

The first 3 gens feel very different in comparison because of the attack split alone, but its genuine improvements to the game play. The biggest problem it had would be the HMs. The surfing isn't as bad as people make it out in DP and you're playing platinum which speeds everything up iirc anyways

gen 3 is the objectivity worst gen and can be proven with science.

White, Platinum, HeartGold.

Get the shit out of the way first so you're not left disappointed at the end.

Though if you'd also gotten or will get B2/W2 I'd suggest doing them in order as B2/W2 greatly makes up for the failures of it's predecessors.

Not all of it's failures but enough of them to feel satisfying.

Though admittedly during one of their "retro" sales, they had Smash Melee available online for like $40, bought it instantly and it even came in the case with manual. Still doesn't mean you should trust GameJew though.

The biggest weakness of the Sinnoh games is how slow everything is. Platinum tried bumping up the battle speed of Diamond and Pearl but I didn't notice a good improvement to it until HG/SS. I don't know if it's the engine the game runs on but I swear the games before Gen IV are faster and more enjoyable to play again.

Gen V feels the fastest with it's battles so by going in release order of Platinum, Heart Gold, then White, you'll have a better time as the battles increase in speed with each iteration.

If you're certain that you won't get tired of the copy/pasted basic structure after playing all 3 games in a row during a brief period of time I'd say release order. Otherwise I'd just go White. I'd argue that it's the definitive Pokemon experience. If you enjoy it take a bit of a break and play the other two in your own time.

Get the slowest one out first then continue with the better, faster ones.
Seriously, Gen 4 except johto remakes are truly snail slow.
