If slaking got a mega that does nothing but change it's ability to oblivious, would it be worth using? Or even just a regular item that canceled the effects of truant, though I wonder if effectively no item is a big enough drawback to using it, having it be your mega as well seems like a more fair drawback.

Yeah no, it's movepool more than makes up for that. Also you're overlooking its 95 special attack pretty hard, that's enough to crush things with high powered moves it has, hp ice lando and fire blast garchomp style.
