I think it would be cooler for them to choose starters from their own generation you know? Like, I'll never know what its like to look at the Alolan starters through the eyes of someone who isn't 23 years old or older.

Who knows, maybe if I was 4 years old like when I first saw Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle they would be awesome too? They could discover pokemon backwards. Starting off with Alola, then playing the Sinnoh remakes, etc. They could experience pokemon in a whole new way. The Johto starters would be like old forgotten relics for the kids.
