Not "anime" games, but "dubbed" games. The voice acting budget for a localization of a foreign game is always going to be peanuts compared to the voice acting budget for the original version of that game.

Fuck, check out The Vanishing of Ethan Carter for a very good example. It's a Polish game, but it's set in America - yet despite that, the English dub voices are fucking cringeworthy as hell, while the original Polish voices are great.

It has nothing to do with anime or Japan or what the game looks like, it has to do with game dubs having shitty ass budgets.

when BOTW was released I realized how badly i wanted Voice acting in sun and moon, because just hearing beeps and reading texts for literally the entire main game gets boring, and it would be interesting on gamefreaks interpretation of each individual character's voices

how ever there is a flaw, you can rename your self, to practically almost anything, and that'd be a pain to do. Fallout 4 did this, but only with a select few names

Dude, I know moon and while it's true that compared to casual japanese speech voice acting always sounds simplified and exaggerated, it's still nicer to the ear than whatever cheap english dub anime and games usually get. The "hurrdurr it's probably just as bad ur just a weeb xd" argument really doesn't matter either because even if they didn't understand a speck of what's being said it doesn't change the fact that the JP voices still sound better than the dub, to the locals and to foreigners. Not because the original version is always automatically better, but because more often than not dubs for this kind of media aren't taken seriously which is the reason people don't like them.

But like one anon said GF probably won't bother to hire good actors for the original voices in the first place so I don't really want voice acting at all, unless there's an option to turn it off.
