Add some carnival/minigame style area where you do weird kinds of battles. They've been edging us for years with things like BF and reverse battles and shit. They need to throw some crazy shit together for those of us who want to use these tired old battle mechanics in fun and creative ways.

A special battle type where your entire team is out, and the oppenent sends out their team, similar to generic JRPGs. Does not apply to wild pokemon. In th case of Legendaries, then their health is increased tenfold to make up for your team being sent out, and the catchrate is raised slightly higher. This helps makes legendary battles feel more intense, and not just random battles out of nowhere.

Some kind of system that would let you boost a Pokemon's BST by a slight amount, some Pokemon get 5, some get 10, pseudos and Legendaries get 0. You could divvy them out as you saw fit. A lot of Pokemon are just shy of being viable, this is my dream method of helping them.

Maybe a Pokemon Farm area where you need to capture a variety of Pokemon to maintain it or unlock new areas/usable features.

Like for example you would need 5 large/strong Pokemon to clear an area of boulders, or catch 15 water types to keep your fields watered.

I like seeing Pokemon in the Poke Pelago and always liked seeing Ash's Pokemon in the background of calls he'd make to Oak like they were doing stuff rather than just sitting in the PC being sad.

Add: The Follow-Feature from Y/HG/SS. That shit was one of the best thing that could happen

Remove: The feature to heal your status condition after a fight (that makes things really too easy imo) and the recent changes to the poisoned status, that it does no damage out of fights. I always panicked when my team had about 10HP left and the center was just so far away that you maybe could make it, but just maybe. That feeling of "Oh shit no, my friend could die on the last few steps" always got me
