Could be, but looking at the amount of what we got in SM, I doubt we'll get this many at once. I think XY and ORAS didn't have much difference between the amount of new Megas they introduced.

Johto's starters don't really have anything though. With Ho-oh and the beasts being promoted for the movie, and the upcoming VC release of Gen II, I could totally see Gamefreak giving them new forms.

You make a good point. Right now we have the Gen 6 and 7 starters being new, then we have the Gen 1 and 3 ones having Megas. Gen II has been left out in the cold a bit, though that might be due to it last showing up in Gen IV as remakes.

They are do for some love though following the ORAS remakes and the usual Gen I nostalgia pandering.

Keep in mind that Gothita and Ralts are the same pokemon, Machamp and Conckedurr are the same pokemon, so idk if they'll be in trough

Well there's two generations with mega evolutions and they wouldn't change the more iconic Kanto designs that much. Plus the Johto starters are the only(?) ones that all 3 are monotype, so the Alolan forms could simply be a secondary type.
