Doesn't this one take place after a timeskip like B2/W2?
I'll play it because I truly love the Pokemon series but Sun and Moon felt like a kick in the teeth. Different isn't necessarily bad but this was so different that it felt like a spinoff game rather than a main series game. If future games are this story heavy and hand-holdy I would probably stop playing them, and that makes me sad because again I love the series.

I fucking love Pokemon. I wanted to love SunMoon so bad, but it's fucking awful. I should have seen they were going in this direction with X/Y.
I just want Pokemon to be fun again. This isn't even a "growing out of it" kind of thing. I just want them to get away from this obnoxious "yaaay friends" bullshit and a story that isn't "You vs evil team". At least X/Y was able to get one out of those two right.

I think the games mechanics have gotten better, but I just don't like the story, and the rivals. Those are really my only complaints.
I wouldn't even be complaining about it if the fucking story wasn't such a huge part of Sun and Moon. Every time I tried to do shit like explore I'd get cutscenes and "HEY ANON YOU SHOULD GO DO THIS WITH US" or "HEY ANON GO DO X". I enjoyed the previous games for having them let me loose in a large open area and letting me explore.

They had less content than the usual first games.
There was no thought put into the areas and they were made into straight lines.
The game was incredibly slow and because of the additional trainer models in battles they had to remove three different battle formats
And there's the very, very low encounter rate of new Pokemon

How can you say that when there aren't even any dungeons any more and trainers on routes only have a max of two Pokemon?
SM didn't even have individual trainer encounter themes.
It isn't even a matter of opinion, there's literally less effort being put into these games.

Any way you look at it they've been getting worse since we moved to the 3DS.
