Masuda didn't want to direct but the position was thrust upon him since it was either him or Sugimori and they decided art was more intensive than music -- Masuda was and is the music guy. Tajiri was the original leader but he's a recluse now. Those 3 were the original team.

Masuda did good considering there was no one more suitable for the job.
