Before Gold and Silver were released, I was a young one still. I picked up this sweet magazine that had all the new critters in it. No other information other than really poorly translated names and pictures of the new gens monsters.

Stag beetles and hercules beetles are different and iconic enough (in japan at least, due to bug-catching) to each deserve their own spot as a fully evolved mon.

Pinsir and heracross should share a pre-evolution based on a grub that evolves at day or night, if anything.
