Pokemon sun and moon anime has been beating yo Kai watch ratings.

Also the Pokemon movies in xy were the lowest in the box office

Just a few weeks ago I saw Yokai watch plushes at the dollar store. Quality that would be 30 bucks if Pokemon for a dollar. That's pretty bad.

XY(Z) is heavily influenced by mid-00s light shounen anime, which are simply not popular anymore
SM on the other hand is a comedic slice of life with a more vivid color palette and stylized animations, something that has become increasingly popular in the last few years
It's not a question of quality, XYZ was simply out of fashion

They only dubbed 26 episodes as season 1 instead of 52. Air them on weekdays for kids to watch and you're done in just over a month. The toys released here right when the show started airing, they sold well for that first month until the show ran out of episodes and went off the air, then toy sales dried up and you can still find Whispers marked down to like $2 in clearance isles.

Even if ratings really mattered for your "muh gen is better than yours" shitposting, you forgot the part where Yokai Watch's demise was well underway Pokemon while XY/XY&Z was still on the air. During XY&Z, Pokemon even started beating out Yokai Watch on some occasions. The statement that SM is somehow the driver behind Yokai Watch's demise or that SM is somehow "better" than XY&Z is unfounded.

But I guess retards are going to be retards and keep their heads in the sand and pretend the numbers say something that they don't actually say.

TV ratings are such a crude metric that they can't be used as an indicator of how a show's being received. They only tell you how many happen to watch on their TVs live, something that can vary depending on what time a show airs, what day it airs, among other factors.

Pokemon was doing fine during XY and XY&Z in terms of raw numbers, and it's still doing well during SM. But you won't find me trying to make the case that one season is "better" than the other based on those numbers.
