I'm not defending XY but there are things that must be said: XY has WAY better Customization than SM, it has less Gen 1 Pandering than SM, HAs are easier to get than SM (You have control over Hordes and Friend Safari unlike SOS Battles, which are totally controlled by the AI), also Shiny Pokémon are easier to get: Poké Radar (1/200 at 40 streaks), Consecutive Fishing (1% chance of appearing shinies at 20 streaks), and Friend Safari (1/512 and not requires Shiny Charm) VS. SOS Battles (1/683 at 70 streaks)

if i remember correctly, infinity energy was why devon became so successful in the first place, and it was used to power the submarines and rocket in ORAS.
in the delta episode, the mossdeep space center wanted to use a rocket full of infinity energy to warp the meteor into the RSE verse, and matt/courtney wanted to use the energy to complete project azoth or some shit
so yeah devon never "shut down that project"

This is laughable what you described are small adjustments that are nice and well appreciated but make almost 0 difference game play wise. Also Kanto pandering? We are legit talking about the generation that copy and pasted viridian forest from Gen 1 and gave charizard and mewtwo 2 Mega's! That alone is equal to what SM did and atleast they have the exude that it's a 20th anniversary!

XY were abysmal games where it counted. Sure they did make some things nicer like you said but the small changes mean nothing when your game falls apart after the 4th Gym
