Why are Volcanion users so braindead and so unfun to play against?

They have literally ONE strategy to go through and yet they take so much time thinking every single turn.
Whenever I see one I just start doing something else while their turn is up and since I have no audio I don't know when it's my turn, but even then and if I play slowly my timer will never be lower than theirs.

Not all of them are like that. I myself play that and don't take a lot of time on my turns. It's not that straight forward, but yeah, it's easy to play.

I notice that players that use Flareon ex tend to do this a lot. If the ideal scenario (baby volcanion fueling flareon while volcanion ex boosts damage) doesn't happen, they get confused and take 2 minutes to decide whether they use steam up or attach an energy. Then, 2 more minutes to decide to move the energy to Flareon.

I am getting so fucking sick of Sycamore, Ultra Ball, and N not being in the first 35 fucking cards.

For everyone complaining about their hammers not hitting, good. Please quit. Denial based decks are for people who only play to win/troll. The games fun and when people say git gud thats actually what u have to do. Better players dont play flips because they suck. There are many more viable strategies other than itemlock,hammers,abilitylock decks. So please if ur frustrated with ur denial tactics failing just quit ur the problem, not the game

I never go first.
I hit tails on hammer about 90% of the time.
My opponent wakes up from my sleep over 90% of the time.
I never have a decent opening hand, I regularly brick off Sycamore dude to clumping, things like all 8 of my energy in a row, all VS Seekers in a row, all attackers prized, all stadiums either at the top or bottom of my deck.
I regularly face opponents who get the absolute best possible hand with the exact cards in them they need to beat me.
I wake up less than 20% of the time from sleep.
My opponent's rates of hammers are about 75% against me.
When I face opponents with advantage or playing actually good decks, I don't suffer nearly as badly as I do almost every other game and often they brick horribly.
I get matched against weakness every other match at least.

I deserve at least a fair 50/50 on hammers if I'm going to never be able to place energy without Carbink on my side. This game is absolute misery to dredge through and honestly only playable if you play Latios donk where you win or lose turn 1, assuming the game will ever let me go first which is extremely rare. I've started attending league more often solely so I can actually play the fucking game.

I don't think the max elixir will be good here as you only have 3 Pokemon you want those energy on. Not hitting a Brigette or some Bulu's early and those are bad items to draw into.

Play a few games and see if those Revitalizer ever have more benefit over playing something like rescue stretcher. Same with Olympia.

Where do you see Kukui coming in handy? Off the top of my head it doesn't help you knock out anything you already would.

I would add in another hex maniac, and maybe try squeeze in a 1-1 Muk.

Make a clone and try play some Max Potion and Assault Vest as well, would be interesting to see how that works.

think of it this way; everything that is effecting the game at the *very moment* this card gets played is wiped clean. So if Jolteon's attack from the previous turn is holding you up, that gets wiped.

Everything else you've mentioned, is not happening while you play it - like you don't play Ranger in the middle of your attack. You play the card in the middle of your turn - wipe the slate clean - and then at the end of your turn you attack. So Ranger cannot affect the future effects that comes after it gets played. If you have to discard energy as part of your attack, that happens at the end of your attack - which is a completely different time to when you played Ranger. It doesn't last all turn, it's just a once-off - play the card, clear the slate of outstanding effects, move on to the next part of your turn.

I like Pokemon a lot, currently have Gen 1-6 living dex and about 1/3 of Gen 7.
Should I get into the TCG or is that a bad idea?
I played MTG for a while and hated the price of decks, and the bottle necking of what you could do with your deck on a budget (I'm not saying it's pay to win, but it's certainly pay for advantage). I also didn't like the lack of a casual audience for the game, rather, everyone seemed to be a smelly, fat NEET who took it a bit too seriously, which kind of killed the fun.

There is very much an attitude of bragging about how much money you've spent, and you do have to spend several hundred dollars a year to not be at a disadvantage to most other players. Coming from VGC, I find it bewildering how many people try to justify the cost as a positive part of the game. From what I hear it's nowhere near as expensive as MtG or YGO though.

In terms of the attitude of people, it depends massively on the league you go to. One of the leagues in my town is very "Get good or go home", while the other is completely casual, but doesn't do tournaments or give any incentive to do better.

So I bought 100 guardian rising packs and as luck would have it there were 4 regular lele gx and 1 lele gx HR.

I'm a a new player that has already bought the lunala starter deck. As I've continued to play versus and finish up the trainer challenge, I've accumulated a lot of trainer coins. What should I be spending them on?

Unless there's another starter deck you absolutely want, if you're decent with the deck the best investment is joining theme tournaments for coins to get tickets, then joining theme tournaments for tickets to get tradeable boosters.

Those boosters will be a great tradeable resource that should allow you to build a real deck (don't go in Public trades tho, all the good offers disappear instantly and only the terrible ones stay, just make your own public trade with actual market values and watch it disappear in a few hours)..

Be mentally prepared tho, grinding theme tournaments will kill your soul. You will see a grand maximum of three decks (incineroar, decidueye and lunala) and most matches will be decided by who bricks harder.

Once you'll have a real deck you'll hopefully be allowed to have fun, also because by then shaymin and vileplume will hopefully have rotated out of standard and the land will be free of their oppression.

There is nothing wrong, when the player decided to think a bit if his opponent's deck is tricky enough to defeat Volcanions. You need to choose correct way of KOs in a certain matchups. Five minutes is pathology, though. Probably, the Volc deck is heavy and not very friendly consistent like some really autopilot decks.
On the other hand I've played with fast Volcanion user, who steamed up once then twice after retrieving 2 energies from discard and all for zero damage because of GX-attack shield by Toxapex.

No hex man was played, no Garbotoxin or anything was in play. The next turn, my opponent again didn't water shuriken and then quit, so I assume that somehow abilities got locked for both of us.

Previously, getting a reprint meant that something would go back into rotation. However, they recently announced a new system of promos, which means they're not re-introduced to Rotation. This thankfully means we can get Best of XY without two more years of Shaymin.

N was last printed in Fates Collide (early 2016) though, so chances are it'll still be in the 2018 rotation anyway. (For comparison, the 2017 rotation includes cards from early 2015 onwards)

So fuck theme basically, that format was killing my soul and even tho I don't have much I tried my hand at making a sort of "elevated" version of the Lunala deck. It serves me okay so far. The general idea is to trade kills with the regular lunalas while the GX one sits in the back redistributing things. Oranguru helps my hand cause it has a tendency to turn to nothing fast, and can server as a decent fighter if I'm not fighting GX pokemons and just trading kills don't make me win the prize race.

Mimikyu is kind of a revenge killer in case things really get out of hand, and can help me draw cards in the beginning if not much is happening.

I'm still very new at this game so in terms of trainers I just put everything that seemed good and helped me draw through my deck, but it could probably stand to be improved. Any suggestions ?

You might consider Exp Share as tool of choice since sooner or later you are going to have a fully loaded active killed and the more of that energy you can keep in circulation, the better. Max Potion too, works very well in decks that can move energy around, since you can avoid the discard clause if you have Lunala GX set up.

I would probably lose the Wallys for Skyla, since searching for a rare candy is as good as evolving kinda, but it also doubles down as being able to search for many more things whereas Wally loses any value past the initial few turns. It's an arguable point though.

As soon as you get Garbodor try to make it fit in, I got out of theme a week ago and people basically kill their own brain and commit sudoku in front of him.
I just won a match where a dude could have swept me with his Flareon EX in the bench because my Garbodor was literally one tool card away from 1HKOing him after a Lysandre, of course the opponent didn't even bother cheking that and used another shitload of tool cards instead of just waiting patiently for a revenge switch.

I personally run two Oranguru because more than that don't really feel necessary.

I'd remove a Lillie and the energy retrieval for two float stone.
Also I run a single Oricorio fairy two quickly search two basics in pinch situations.
