Why does /vp/ hate essentials so much?

The only people that hate Essentials are ROM hackers and phoneposters that love to play their Fire Red on their phones.

Essentials is (objectively):
>Laggy (when compared to Romhacks)
Although a smart dev will keep lag at minimal levels, or you can use a speedhack like Cheat Engine's and play at x2 - x3 speed anyway
>Has no end in possibilities
If you're a codefag like me, you can create pretty cool mechanics in Essentials, like I am but won't shill because it's too early for that. However most devs will usually serve stock mechanics because nobody wants to learn how to code.

Can't argue with that, playing on phones would be a plus to get a wider audience, but I cant say I care much about having to play on a computer, since I spend most of my time in front of one anyway.

Nah I think they have people more talented than I am, I just polish stuff a lot and have a lot of attention to detail

Ive also been investing time in other cute changes like adding Gen IV two-frame animations ("Upload failed." so can't show ya)

Thanks for the interest though. It might not be the prettiest game ever (one man's work), but I know it'll be enjoyable.

I don't think the second one I posted is bad, though. Overall, I would say Phenoix rising looks better then sage slightly on average, but sage is 2-3 steps above etheral gates, and the next best looking thing after EG is absolutely not even on the same plane of quality.
