Between the lackluster beginning dex for Diamond/Pearl where you couldn't even use the new evos in the main game, the slogging pace and uninteresting areas and the FUCKING OVERUSE OF HMS (I think you needed 1 and a half HM slaves so there goes having a varied team) the original games were garbage. Nearly turned me off Pokemon completely if it hadn't been for HGSS.

Have people really lost all hope in GF? I never really though OR AS were bad games. In fact I liked them better than RSE with the exception of no battle frontier. The point of a remake isn't to just satisfy nostalgia. But also to fix problems that previous games had. Sure that doesn't always work out like that but there are always some issues that get addressed. DP's most common issues are slow speed, HMs and regional dex. Do you honestly believe that GF wouldn't fix these in the remakes if they happen?

Getting yourself some taste would go a long way towards fixing your problem, fagit

Well, here's my 2 cents: As much as I like ORAS, they didn't added some of the neat features like customization from X/Y in the game, which was a major thing on the game.

So I'd imagine they would actually skip on updating D/P as well in all honesty. I might be wrong if they want ride pokemon to be literally the new way to move around so fuck it include in all games, but besides that, no, I actually don't see it happening for the remakes.
I'd be happy to be wrong, whoever.

On that subject, X/Y was an OK, but I sincerely think S/M was kinda bad, so I don't have much faith to begin with.

I dislike SM too, truly have not touched that game in months. However some of the new features introduced, mainly ride pokemon, I honestly believe will be incorporated somehow in future games. As for customization I do believe they will go the ORAS route but who knows, customization definitely is one of the most popular features in the series to date and I do believe that GF may honestly allow that.

I'm hyped for the remakes. It's a chance for Sinnoh to get the improvement it desperately deserve. There are a couple of good pokemon in the roster so it's not hopeless.

I'm actually jealous at the prospect of Sinnoh getting a remake in a non-shit engine. It's the one that needs it the most though.

This. Though I'm a little different. Platinum is one of my favourite games (not dp) but even then it still had some issues that many people dislike and I completely understand. I'm excited for a sinnoh remake but I oppose it being on the 3ds. The region is also one of my favourites but like many have said it has issues that a remake on the 3ds engine wont be able to fix completely. So switch is the only option unless Nintendo reveals another new console. Even then, I don't think the remake will come until 2019

It needs to wait until lv41 to get Close Combat, that's like a couple hours before the Pokemon League. Flare Blitz at 57 is strictly postgame stuff. Otherwise your best STABs for ingame are Flame Wheel and Mach Punch from levelup, or Brick Break and Flamethrower/Fire Blast from TMs and Fire Punch from a Platinum-only move tutor. This stuff might lend itself to 2-3 hit KOs, but then you leave yourself open to retaliation and the fire monkey can't actually take much punishment, especially in its pre-evolved forms. It's one of the more unreliable starters I've used, pretty disappointing.

(As for coverage moves, given that this is Sinnoh, you might feel compelled to sacrifice at least one moveslot to an HM like Strength or Rock Smash. At least the latter has uses ingame since the AI is too retarded to care about having a million defense drops on its active Pokemon, but such a move is still a better fit on something bulkier that can use it a couple times before bringing the hurt on a weakened opponent. Thunder Punch is again Platinum tutor only, and still only 75BP which in gen 4 is a little lacking already. You might consider using up more TMs to teach it stuff like some Rock-type moves, or Earthquake, or... Shadow Claw.)

How underleveled are you? I had Close Combat before Snowpoint, and got Flare Blitz right in the middle of the league. The champion in DP is at level 66 and in Plat shes 62, boi.

If they add a ton of region variants, the game could be better.
But if it's a straight remake of platinum I will probably skip it.
While platinum was better than the other two, it took out a bunch of pokemon, so your team was going to be shit till end game.

Ok so here's what I think would make it workable.
Add more pokemon to begin with. I'm talking XY levels of pokemon, instead of the first quater of the game being bedoof, beldum and machops.
Add platinum end game.
Add pokemon ride.
Let people use bank early on, so they can just send mon over from sun and moon.
