Sure, there may be some shitty or generic designs like pic related, but there are a lot of great designs.

I don't.

There is some good designs out there, but people's opinions on vp vary on what makes a good design/concept.

Also vp, like every other part of 4chan, just loves being contrarian hipsters. We have to shit on everything, so it in turn makes it look like everyone on here hates absolutely everything and anything about fakemon.
>>
>>32522587
I don't hate them (I even make my own). I honestly think this board needs daily Fakemon Generals. Fakemon are fun to discuss, because the possibilities are endless.

I like this, also Fakemon thread?

>Sure, there may be some shitty or generic designs
That's a big understatement, good fakemons are pretty rare
>>
>>32522786
OP here. Of course.
>>
My main problem with fakemon evolutions are that, most of the time, middle-stages just look unnecessary instead of looking like believable transitional stages between the first and final forms. There's also a lot of 'it just gets bigger' evolutions.
>>
>>32522798
That's because many follow the Gen 1 design philosophy. Like pic related.

GregAndrade is a good artists, but his designs are largely uninteresting. I've seen his newest design so I've without doubt seen these too, I just don't remember seeing them since they're either Pokemonified animals or objects. That by itself isn't bad since most canon Pokemon are like that, but being an official GameFreak design gives players a reason to remember them, which isn't the case with fakemons designers who try to play it safe.

The final ghost stage is cool I suppose, but yeah, it tries its best to avoid looking like the thing it's based on (grim reaper) so it ends up generic as well.
>>
Personally, I like fakemon but only when they are used in an actual fangame or comic or whatever. Of course designing them is the funniest part of it but when the artist just draws them with no purpose, it kinda bugs me.

It would be nice to see a lot of fakemon creators make fangames for their fakemon, but making a game takes a lot of time.

Sometimes it's fun just to design a fakemon and theorize what'd it be like.

Was there a fakemon that's just an amalgamation of anime faces or did I hallucinate it?

ftfy
like >>32522798 said most people who do fakemon just doesn't know how to make a natural transition between stages, and their either come like unnecessary or the same.
Also they usually don't know shit about proper color scheme and they just slap red and black or purple and green like they're the only colors that there are there.

The base stages are neat and could definitely have been fashioned into some nifty bottle/fountain design. But nope, instead it became another waifubait with an appearance that maybe refers to potion sellers in the most vague manner possible.

Fakemon are what you make of it, much like how fanart may not be up to the same standard as the official art. Much like people will draw Pokemon they like, others will try to create their own. People don't hate fakemon as a concept, they just hate bad designers.

My main issue are fakemon artists (especially those who try to do Sugimori's style) have a tendency to only reference one Pokemon for their style of "GF accuracy". So instead of having a Scyther-esque design and Mr. Mime-esque design in the same fakedex or a Lucario and a Kricketune, all of their fakemon go a Lucario route or a cutemon route instead of a variety like most Gens have.
