Actually they are still pretty useful. It offers more diversity. I mean there are the more powerful and risky moves then there are the less powerful but much more safe moves.

The burn nerf is their way to nerf Scald. Stuff like Latios who struggled to switch into Scald before now do so a lot more comfortably. Also, there is a Tapu which can shut down the burn chance for 5 turns and is easy to fit into teams.

Similarly, Knock Off has been indirectly nerfed by the introduction of Z-Crystals, although it is a smaller nerf than Scald/burns.

You sorta have a point with Regenerator, but it is only a relative problem in singles. One should wonder instead why they haven't nerfed Intimidate, since that is the ability that is actually somewhat of an issue in doubles.
