There is nothing wrong about complex and non-cartoony pokémon

What even falls under that category and is a controversial design? UBs are complex and cartoony, my mom's animals are simple and non-cartoony, Bewear is non-complex and cartoony...?

You know how most 'mons look drastically different when drawn in a semi-realistic style because of the difference in how much detail they have?

I mean the 'mons which actually display their entire design without omitting detail for the sake of keeping up appearances and appealing to the kiddies, some of the later bug pokemon and legendaries fall into this category.

I really just posted this because I read a conversation in a fakemon thread where the entire argument was that realistic or intimidating designs don't look like "real" pokemon for whatever reason.

Good designs are good designs. As long as all the components work and it fits properly into cute/cool/interesting roles then it doesn't matter how simple or complex it is
