Some were better, some were really inferior, some were neither better or inferior - just equivalent.

The Team boss battle managed to take a meme and make something bombastic and memorable, Deoxys theme took an upgrade and so did super ancient beast.

The fucking e4 battle manages to be terrible because they forgot to add the clapping sounds, it is amazing how much a piece of work changes with just a little percussion taken away from it.

People are blinded by nostalgia. Most tracks were a straight-up improvement and the new tracks are fantastic (Zinnia's Theme, Encounter! Biker etc.)

Though there still are some weird remakes, like the Hiker Encounter theme. God damn, what the fuck was Adachi thinking?

The trumpets in the original soundtrack were replaced with saxophones.

Some were better, some were worse. At least they sound similar to their originals, unlike FRLG using wrong notes for most of the tracks or HGSS adding random shit to tracks to make them more bouncy and losing some of that calm atmosphere.

The Elite Four theme was definitely one that was better before, and I've never cared for the Champion theme. Routes 119 and 120 are godly in both iterations, while I found the new Mt Pyre peak area's track to be a huge improvement. I feel the trainer and gym leader battle themes are also better.

Oh, and Fortree City was fucking terrible in ORAS.

Night time soaring music is comfy as fuck

RSE had a very forgettable soundtrack. It wasn't helped by the GBA's shitty sound system or their choice of instrument approximation. The synth trumpet really overshadows the notes and the tunes blend in one into the other. If I haven't been playing a Hoenn game recently I can't remember where a theme comes from,

I found them a lot more hit and miss than HGSS and FrLg remixes. However when they hit they hit pretty fucking hard, those ancient pokemon remixes were pretty damn good.

Route 104, 110 and 120 were greatly improved. Most of the others are alright except for Route 113 which was the only one they fucked up.

the remixes were amazing, especially the Aqua/Magma grunt battle, gym battle and trainer battle. ORAS probably has the best battle music in the series

They fucked up the E4 music so badly that it made me want to cry.

Some stuff was awesome though, like the Sunken Ship.

Kageyama was the worst composer of the franchise, his style is unoriginal, too occidentalized, simple, bland..., thanks god that he left game freak.

Go Ichinose and Midako Adachi are far better. I could say Masuda too because some themes (like the giratina one) but nowadays he don't do a shit.

No, they were bad. ORAS music reminds me of something you would get when typing "cool epic RSE remix" into YouTube for lack of a better term.

I think the best example of music butchering ORAS has to offer is the Deoxys theme. The original is bombastic and intense. You have parts such as the "jazz" section along with the low buildup afterwards, the ringing bell, the alien beeping noises, and the "takeoff" sound. The ORAS version ruins it with just blandly orchestrating it and toning it down. It doesn't sound menacing and alien anymore and lost all personality as if the composer just wanted to get it over with and didn't care.
