Noctowl was a great choice back in the day too. You could give Morty a dose of his own medicine with Hypnosis, Confusion for super effective hits off Noctowl's superior Sp. Attack, or Foresight+Return for powerful STAB against the ghosts' shit defences. I've actually had to resist the temptation to use it in my shitmon run of Silver.
