Proud to say my first game was Pokémon Red, and that I still have my original copy and my copy of Yellow to this day. As well as my gold, silver, and crystal versions. They sit in the shoebox on my shelf with gameboys and games from my childhood in it. That way I don't ever lose them.

Unfortunately my Blue vanished some time ago, but you better believe I logged massive hours in that one too.

I've always said this, but I'm playing the Virtual Console now and honestly I disagree. There's no handholding, the game encourages exploration in a way no other game has since.

Pokemania was overrated honestly

It was fun but I think a lot of it just ties in with general nostalgia and being a young boy and playing with figures and games with friends.

One time I had to go out to a place I went as a child a lot. I distinctly remember playing Pokemon out there and it seemed like "the good old days". So I brought Pokemon Soul Silver.

It turned out to be exactly like the good old days... turned out I was bored as hell so I used to play Pokemon all day, beating the Elite Four over and over and leveling up mons for no reason. It all came back to me.

I don't understand how anyone can say the 90s weren't objectively the best decade. The 80s had the end of the Cold War and the 00s had the rise of radical Islamic terrorism. The 90s were that comfy economic boom in between. Unless you lived in a shit-tier country that was at war in the 90s.
