Why the fuck do the frenchies have a much cooler name than we do? Ultra Breach sounds way cooler than the boring ass Ultra Wormhole, and its also a cool pun. What the fuck Gamefreak?!
>>32458886
>TFW the spanish translation never made its own names for the pokemons, cucking ourselves to the english names
I'm so angry about this shit, We are trully a bunch of lazy fuckers.
>>32458929
Here in Québec we got the anime in french but the pokemon names were in english. I'm glad because french pokemon names are fucking cringeworthy.
>>32458886
>complaining about translations of pointless stuff
Autism
>>32458929
>he's lucky that spain doesn't translate pokemon names
>he'd rather have them translate into cringeworthy names with retarded puns
Spanish bros and italian bros were lucky, why do you want to get cucked with obnoxious pointless translations?
>>32458944
>complaining about people complaining about translations of pointless stuff
Autism+
I'm still salty that they didn't leave "Greninja" alone.
>>32458934
>french pokemon names are fucking cringeworthy.
This
Fucking Bulbizarre
>>32459114
That's more accurate though
The whole "ultra" nomenclature is pretty lame
>>32458944
They're getting cucked with the obnoxious, pointless English translations, though.
IT'S YA BOI BROMLEY
>Korean
>>32459086
Amphinobi!
>>32458934
French kids should talk french, not a bastard mix of french and english.
>>32458934
>they think french suck becausemuh anglo heritage
>they use greninja as an example of superiority
>it actually comes from grenouille
americans need to wake up
>>32459415
It works, but it's still worse. Fucking contrarians.
SALOPEREEEEEEEEEE
>>32459114JoJo's Bulbizarre Adventure lol
>>32458929
>wanting more bullshit like "código cero"
You should be grateful they use the English names, you cocksucker.
>>32458929
Are you for real?
Seeing how all of the spanish translation are made for spain rather than a neutral spanish that can be used on all spanish speaking countries and how awkward the translation for moves were in the old games i'm really grateful that they keep the english names for pokemon.
>>32458934
>I'm glad because french pokemon names are fucking cringeworthy.
More than half of them are pretty cool imo
>>32459851
>SALOPEREEEEEEEEEE
What french Pokemon is that ?
>>32459897
Maybe you don't like it, but as someone that doesn't know any Spanish it was my favourite name.
>>32460095
That's french name for Tapu Pepe
>>32458886

>>32460113

>>32460170
It's a mix of "Bitch" in french and "REEE"
The french translators are not what they used to be anymore
>>32459396
Funny enough there is a reason for that. The Guzmania flower belongs to the Bromiloid family. Bromiloids are known for catching water from rain and as a result, creating homes for aquatic insects.
Several other characters are named after flowers such as Plumeria and Gladion, named after the Plumeria flower and Gladiolus flower (Also known as the sword lily)
Worth noting is that all of the characters named after flowers in team skull are native Hawaiin flowers with good meanings, while the Aether Foundation's characters named after flowers have more malicious meaning. Lusamine (Jasmine) is an invasive species in Hawaii which has contributed to the destruction of native species and Faba, named after the green beans we all know and love, has a historic meaning and symbolism attached to death. Wicke, however, is exempt from this, as wicker is seen as motherly in symbolism, and confused some people who were looking into flower meanings in the character names during pre-release.
If you want to pry more, try looking into Japanese flower language, which I think is called "hankbatoba" or something like that. After all, after X and Y was released, when asked in an interview, of the heads at Gamefreak said that for gen 7 "the secret is in the flowers".
Other flower symbolism can be seen in other 3ds Pokemon games. If you doubt me, look up what the flowers you stand in when you fight in victory road mean in Japanese flower symbolism.

Cringey English names based on weird translations or bad puns might sound awful to native English speakers but sound good to everyone else, and vice-versa.
I played Moon in English and played sun in French.
Was really fucking weird. Even though French is my first language.
>>32459114
That's a fairly accurate translation of "Fushigidane"
>>32461867
For some reasons, autists have gotten it into their heads that the English names are the "standard" and everything that deviates from them is "different", even if it does a better job localizing the ACTUAL original.
>>32461921
Anon you're on an English message board speaking English are you gonna call them bears or are you gonna call them ours
>>32462009
Yeah, but in the context of the thread it's stupid assumption.
>>32462009
I'm not going to sperg about how "ours" is a retarded name and we should just call them "bears" in French too instead of making up our own unnecessary name for them.
>>32458929
I'm glad some people are actually doing this, I can't imagine polish names
>dziwnobulw [bulb that is weird]
>płomiszczuder [mix of flame, salmander and lizard]
>małtonożółw [little baby pond turtle]
please, fuck off from english names...

Besides the names don't have to translate English names directly. It could be translated from Japanese or using specifically Polish puns.

di-si-dżu-łaj
>>32458886
The French translation is really good to be honest.I'm not trying to say it's better than the English one but I am quite happy with it.
>>32458934 The names can seem cringeworthy sometimes but it's only because you always spot the cringy puns more easily in your native language. Overall they are good.
They make even more weird or lewd references than in English too.
>>32462739
Thank you anon. I thought it was "de-si-du-łaj". Anyway back to English before mods delete the thread
>>32458886
Just blame America like I always do. They're really bad when it comes to names.
