Play with shitmons and take it less seriously. Restart or put it down once you finish the main game. Don't try to squeeze out what isn't there.

Pokemon is a dumb romp of a kids game, and trying to make it anything more is the source of /vp/'s suffering.

Try out different battle formats. VGC17 was tons of fun when I played. If you don't have a 3DS/Sun/Moon, you can use Pokemon Showdown.

Try a nuzlocke or some other specific ruleset and play through one of your favorite gens. If you have friends that are into the game, try and play with them. Soul Links look pretty dece, would love to try it out myself.

The Mystery Dungeon games are pretty cool and can give you a new appreciation of certain Pokemon, like Bidoof.

I started playing the TCG online. Completely reinvigorated my love of the franchise.
