It does suck sometimes. It's just words and all and you learn to ignore it but the more popular something is the more hate it gets. People throw the words like "overrated" and "Mary sue" around so often that they lose their meaning. Even if it's true it can't help but hurt a little

Don't give a shit if a pokemon is popular. Just don't shove the thing down people's throats like they did for lucario.

It hasn't stopped though. It's still in the next movie, replacing Brock. And if and when DPPt remakes come, they will certainly give it a Diamond and Pearl Mega/Unique form.

I like Greninja(though I prefer Froakie more) and while I was glad one of my favorite starters got a lot of love, I got sick of seeing it so much. I didn't hate Delphox or Chesnaught either, so seeing them get ignored was jarring to me. They should have gotten megas too

The minute I saw all three of them in Amie I knew Greninja would be the pandered one. He gets two unique animations (battle, amie) and Delphox and Chesnaught don't even move their arms (in amie).

I actually like vanilla Greninja and Froakie, too. Shame Gamefreak can't control themselves.

It feels great. I feel like I'm being recognized and constantly getting gifts from GF. If it wasn't popular, I doubt it would get two Megas. And I'm really glad it got them, because it is easily one of the most fun to use Pokemon now. Seeing it again in SM as a ridemon made me happy as fuck. It looked pretty great just coming down from the skies and flying again. Too bad you don't get to Soar like ORAS, though it's understandable why, so I forgave that.

Of course, the more popular something is, the more hate it gets. That's just a fact. I don't mind it though. I'm getting so much in return that some hate is only fair. Equivalent Exchange and such.
