It doubles the actual stat, which will only grow in a linear way if the pokemon has 0 EV and IVs, and no affecting nature.

For example a serious, 0 EV, 0 IV huge power azumarill has an Atk stat equivalent to exactly double of its base, that is, would behave as if its base Atk were 100.

Since you always want the greatest possible number in a stat you want to use, you go with max EVs and IVs and a positive nature and that screws the raw numbers in such a way that a fully Atk-favorable Azumarill with huge power has the equivalent of a base 150 or so Atk stat.

Now this made me curious. What heppens when a pokemon uses electrify when there is another pokemon on the field with lightningrod. Is it negated by lightningrod, does it boost the lightningrod pokemon and then the effect apply or does it just apply with no problem?
