So what? You can catch rarities like Butterfree, Beedrill, Scyther, and Pinsir there. That's pretty great for early game.

You know that every pokemon in the Johto Dex is a Johto mon right? Even Pinser, Caterpie, etc. Do you not know how Pokedexes work even after 20 years?

I love the bug catching contest. I used to look forward to it during GSC.

Did anyone ever reset their DS clocks to grind against Pinsir and Scyther?
