They're gonna keep pushing the 2DS because it sells well, and Pokemon is one of the backbones of Nintendo as is. They're gonna pressure GF to make another game because they want more money.

To clarify, I don't want a remake on the 3DS. The graphical processing power of the 3DS is completely strained as is, and if they do make another game for the 3DS it will suffer immense frame rate drops and the like. I do fear that Nintendo will pressure GF to make another game however, they need to make more profits.

I will buy the orange+white one in a second if it's released in NA.

The difference is the Game Boy Micro was a gimped version of an old console released after the release of a newer console that had backwards compatibility. The Switch can't play 3DS games, so it's not the same as what the DS was to the GBA. The same shit happened with the Wii Mini and to an extent the DSi, though the DSi at least had several years before it was outdated.

It's still too soon for mainline pokemon games on the switch. Ever since Gen 2, mainline pokemon games for a new console usually comes out a year or two after the new console releases. Seeing how the switch just came out, we'll probably see a repeat of what we saw from Gen V, one more line of games on the 3DS with a spinoff game or two for the switch. Gen VIII will probably start in 2018-19 with the first mainline pokemon games on the switch. Although, last gen was the first gen without a third version, so who knows how this gen will turn out.
