Whitney has been clearly set to be a normal gym leader. All her Pokemon in rematches and BW2 were normal with Clefairy/ble being the only outliers now. It would just be removed. Blue never specialised in a type so making him a Ground leader would've made bringing him back pointless, why not just make a new character?

Go back to Whitney's Clefairy. There are more pokemon can learn the elemental punches and elemental fangs than there are pokemon that could learn Metronome, Clefairy's signature move in that gym.
And if any fire trainer wanted to use Torterra, GF would give torterra a fire move, just like Steelix in Gen IV.
Also, I don't know why are you cherrypicking Torterra. No fire specialist used a torterra in the franchise. Or are you the one who makes Torterra threads?

I think the point anon was trying to make was Clefairy is now a pure Fairy-Type. Whitney is a Normal-type Gym Leader. He's saying having Clefairy on her team wouldn't make much since anymore, since she specializes in Normal-type Pokemon.

Though Candice's and Volkner's team contradicts this(Not Sabrina's because there was a limited amount of Psychic type Pokemon in Gen 1, plus Yellow and Gen 2 corrected her team. FRLG wanted to stay true to the original games).

Yeah, it wouldn't make sense if Clefairy was still in, Especially since she only has 2 Pokemon. I could see GF switching it for Jigglypuff.

BUT in my opinion, I always saw Whitney as a Pink themed trainer, not a Normal-typed trainer. With the 2 pink Pokemon, Pink hair, and Pink Gym. So I wouldn't flip shit if GF kept Clefairy. Although Jiggs would be more fitting.

there's literally precedence for this IN the johto games. Jasmine mentions she was a rock type trainer before steel was discovered. now she uses steel pokemon. The solution is for Whitney to become a fairy trainer. and give megamilk a fairy move, and say she kept it even with its type because she loves it.
